Spanish immersion is the absolute fastest way to learn Spanish, and a homestay Nicaragua with a family is an important part of it.
By living in an “around the clock” Spanish environment, your brain adjusts and begins “thinking” in Spanish.
We believe homestay is an important component of Spanish language acquisition, and we encourage all our students to take advantage of this marvelous opportunity.
Our homestay families are experienced at hosting students and they enjoy participating in your learning process.
When we choose a family, the most important quality we seek is a genuine interest and desire to host foreign students. Our families are open-minded, interesting, and generous hosts who offer you an ideal environment to practice your Spanish.
They have been carefully selected for their hospitality, warmth, and friendliness. While each family is compensated for providing the use of their home and preparing your meals, it is their interest in sharing their culture and learning about yours which motivates them more.
The best way to practice the Spanish you learn in the classroom is in a homestay. It provides opportunities to hear and use words and phrases used in everyday life.
You will also make friends and experience their lives from within the family. Many students continue to communicate with their host families in Spanish long after they finish classes and return to their home country.
Homestays at Spanish School Nicaragua typically begin on Sunday and end on Saturday mid-day, but special arrangements may be possible. The minimum homestay placement is one week (six nights), but it can be extended for as long as you wish. (The weekly price is not adjusted for late arrival, early departure, or absences during the week.)
When you fill out your registration form please advise us of any preferences such as vegetarian, smoker, or if you are traveling with an animal.
If for any reason a student feels uncomfortable with his or her host family, we will resolve the concern or arrange for another family. Each home has been vetted and inspected by our school, and most families have a long-standing relationship with the school.
Homestay with a Nicaraguan family is a tremendously rewarding experience and is highly recommended.
